Healthy Rainy Days Tips
Rainy days are back which means we're bound to get wet. Getting wet in
the tropics could sometimes post hazards that could quite affect our health if
we are not careful. So the best way to prevent flu, colds and skin problems is to try to dry yourself once you get out of the rain.
Have a warm shower to get rid of all the dirt that the water outside got
you into. Make sure to wash with a
germicidal or anti-bacterial soap to prevent skin problems that may be caused by the plaques of
dirt that came along with the water outside. The warm water will help soothe
the skin, clean it and somewhat kill the germs that came along with the rainwater.
If you catch a cold, make sure you drink plenty of water to help
yourself in hydrating the body and help eliminate the toxins. Colds happen commonly when our bodies suddenly get dumped in cold water
or through viral or bacterial infections. It could also be an aftershock of flu
so be ready to have paracetamol on your bag to prevent it from progressing into
a much worse medical problem.
If you suddenly catch influenza or flu, hydrate or drink a lot of water
and take paracetamol. If you perspire and
feel really hot, get a cold towel (towel soaked in cold water) and try to wipe
it on your body. Take vitamin C from tablets, juices or fruits to speed up the
healing. It is also best to get some rest to re-energize the body.
If you develop a cough, hydrate as well and take a cough syrup which
could be an over-the-counter drug at your local drug store. Some of the most commonly available drugs in the market that could ease
this problem are Robitussin, bromhexine, salbutamol and fluimucil. Try avoiding too many
sweets, because they could irritate the throat if you eat too much of them.
Have a raincoat, umbrella and good rubber booties to prevent yourself from getting too wet. It is best to keep yourself dry whenever you can to prevent catching colds and other skin problems. This may not be always possible especially when our jobs are always outdoors, but once you get home, make sure you dry yourself up and have that warm bath to soothe the senses.
Happy rainy days.
Happy rainy days.
