Cebu, Philippines
Cebu, Philippines is the capital city of the Islands of Visayas. It is home to the famous dried mangoes, crunchy bread and butter-scotch cake dessert. It is also famous for its salty Lechon or roasted pork. It is said to be one of the first places in the Philippines where Christianity started. It is where the Magellan cross can be found and where some of the earlier forts and cathedrals were made.
It is also the place where an encounter between the locals of Cebu or Cebuanos, led by one of the chieftains or native king, Lapu-lapu and the Portuguese with some Spanish explorers happened. Magellan was killed by the natives of Mactan. Today, a monument of Lapu-lapu stands and can now be found in Mactan.
