How To Keep Your Home Expenses Low
1.If you are living with your family in a home, you can save cost by keeping electric, water, phone, internet and cable TV bills to a minimum.
2.You need to keep appliances that are not being used shut down.
3.Turn off lights and fixtures that are not being used.
4. Use electric fans if you cannot afford to pay the cost of expensive electric bills from the use of air conditioning units.
5. Wash clothes in one washing at least only once or twice every week.
6. To save and make your electronic equipment last longer and prevent them from becoming damaged, make sure to not make them overheat by turning a fan on to minimise the heat they generate.
7. Remove phones and other gadgets from chargers once their batteries are full and save on frequent battery replacement.
8. Buy food and vegetable from the local public market. If the farm market or food bank is close to your house, drive there or walk there to save on gasoline or commutation expenses.
9. If you are shopping for consumables, buy them once or twice a month. If you really need to buy something from the grocery store, make sure to list other things that you need so that you don't have to go back and forth to the shop.
10. If you are running a business from home, make sure that you are taking notes on the expenses that you are making and separate the budget for these expenses from your personal expenses. These business expenses should be minded because they should be deducted from your revenue or profits to see what income you have made after they have been deducted and after taxes.
11. If you have employees or associates, make sure that their daily wages or hourly pay is paid to avoid problems with the Department of Labour. However, if they have violated or have cause terrible damage to your business, this should also be taken note of. You have the option to give your staff a vacation, separation, ask them to resign or re-assign them to a different job that are more capable of handling.
12. If you are working from home, make sure to pay your utility bills on time to avoid you home operation from being hampered and keep job or your business running.
13. If there is a no need to travel, then do not bring your car when not necessary. Commuting is a lot cheaper. However, if you have to transport people from one place to another like home buddies, co-workers, staff or if you are carpooling, then bringing a vehicle is most convenient and perhaps cheaper.
14. Unleaded gasoline is always best for certain engines and it is considered cleaner than other kinds of gasoline.
15. Cook meals that you want to eat with the family if they are willing to volunteer and want to share their recipes. If everybody is capable of contributing for the home expenses, then it is best to let everyone contribute, especially the working residents. Retirees can also contribute, if they have pensions.
16. Keep a list of your expenses and the budget coming in every month. Try not to go beyond the budget to have money for the future and for emergency expenses.
17. Set aside an emergency fund for possible repairs that your home might need in the future or for certain incidents that need necessary repairs to plumbing, electrical or if you are planning on a renovation.
18. Keep a maintenance fund in your budget like for termites and pest extermination in your home or regular general cleaning.
19. If you have a helper, regular cleaning staff or shopper for your groceries and consumables, make sure to compensate them for the work that they provide, otherwise they might find other jobs and likely lose them. Today, house help should also have their regular monthly Social Security Contributions paid at the local office of SSS in the Philippines or at accredited bank. If they are working on a contract, then emphasize to them that they have to pay their own SSS on their own.
20. Food sharing is possible for cohabiting individuals but if you want to keep your food separate from others', then that's alright. Let them know that you are saving it for yourself and for the future days.
