What If You Become Homeless
Sometimes governments have shelters where you can stay and live in. You may be allowed to live in these places temporarily, or, you can rent or lease a place for long term use. Sometimes you have to pay certain fees for water, maintenance of the place, internet and electric bills on your own. However, these places can help you get back to the life that you need to fulfil and keep your family well, together or at least have a shelter for the nights, days, and rainy or stormy weathers.
If you have the money or means, you can buy a place of your own, build a home for yourself and your family. This may put a strain on your finances, but at least you have a home. What you just need to do then, is to think about how to find food and meet certain needs that the family must have. Sometimes you need to take jobs that you may not like to do keep earning the money you need for expenses or food but at least you are alive and living. Swallowing your ego is not something that you should feel bad about if it is best for the entire family. There is no bravery in being too proud or egotistic because it will only hurt you in the process, especially if things do not work out the way you want them to. What matters most is that you and your family has a home to come home to, have some food to eat and have some of the things that you need to make some of the simple dreams that you may have come true.
If you have big dreams of living abroad because you have lost your home or because your job is abroad, try to adapt to the culture of the place where you are at. Learn about the culture, the place, the rules and the things you need to comply with in order for you to keep your home in that place. Follow the rules and regulations of your community and try to be friendly with the locals in your community. Always be cautious because you are a foreigner, sometimes locals do not look kindly on foreign nationals or even if you just look foreign but actually a citizen of the country because of earlier animosity between tribes or nations in the past. Some may think that you are only spying or simply are opportunists. Make them understand the value that you can offer to the community, and perhaps, even bring them to your home country where they can also assimilate and live there like you have in their own.
Your family at home should welcome them if you were welcomed in their country because this is important in friendships and family life. And besides, by nature, we are all relatives anyway or become relatives someday. So, why should there be discrimination? We should only abide by the rules of the community where we belong, so that everything goes smoothly, peacefully, happily and joyfully for everyone.
Learn from the people in the community that you now live in. Sometimes building trust is difficult, because of traumatic experiences that you may have had in the past. But if you learn more about the history, culture and the people of the place that you live in and with, you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the country. You will be able to appreciate the home that you have now. You will also be able to see the beauty of the nature that is around you and the people who have made that country, island, territory or continent possible. Maybe in the future, you can get them to go to your homeland and see the historical places that are there and what they are about to the people who have lived there.
Try to do your part to make the home happy and you may also contribute to the community if you like. Most communities have to pay taxes for the maintenance needed to keep them going. Maintenance not only means maintenance for the house, vehicles used but also to pay for the food that is being served on our tables. Food is necessary for the nourishment of our bodies to keep us physically healthy. Food production is very labour intensive work and requires workers who need to work to make the foods that we like and love. These workers most of the time demand some kind of allowance or wages for their families or a percentage from the harvest, which is why it is necessary that we have to spare something to pay for the food that we eat. The same goes for other consumer goods and shelter. Someone harvested the materials for the clothes and made them. Some people built the house and the materials for it were taken from somewhere, which is why we need to do something to pay for these things and their maintenance or pay the dues that we have to pay to keep enjoying living in them.
If you do not have land where you can plant your own food, you can trade something for food or things that you need. This could be in the form of service, items that you can sell or rent to other people in the community to make your own money or buy the things you need or want. This is also known as trading. You can trade your food for another kind of food. Trade monies for a different currency if that is what you are interested in. Trade clothes for another kind of clothing that you like or trade, other items that you wish to trade within your community. Trade money for goods, services and other things that you may need.
Making the decision to trade, is quite tricky sometimes. Sometimes you lose a lot, or sometimes you may win big time. However, that is part of it, but you may win or lose but you will definitely learn from the experience. Try not to be angry so that you will keep your sanity. This is why you should not put all your savings in trading because you might not have anything for the future anymore. However, there is the family that you can probably go home to when this happens. They will likely help you out if they can.
The family should be a priority. Keeping everyone at home happy is a good thing. Make the children learn something new every day, so that they have some skills that they can use when they grow up and help out in the future. Once they have these skills, they will be able to do work or jobs that might be needed in the market and earn their own keep.
Forming friendships in the community is necessary. Sometimes we need a set of friends who can help us out every now and then. You can ask them about what they know about the place where you are and the conditions there. If you may feel that you will be experiencing difficulties in the jobs or work that you have to do, tell your supervisor about the things that you are struggling with. Sometimes they will train you on a task that you need to do in order for you to the job that you are tasked to do. Make sure that you comply with their instructions, otherwise, you will not be able to do the job well and it could hurt the business that you are in.
Your workplace may usually be a part of your community, and the income you make in your business does contribute to your wages or earnings. Let's say that you do not have sales at the moment, perhaps the goods that you have there have become profits already and could serve as your earnings. Split the profits with your staff and your partners, so that everybody will be happy. If not, meaning you really have not may any profits, try planning and executing business strategies that might work in making those sales and getting those profits that you need. This is part of the business. Another life of the business is keeping the staff happy as well. If you do not, then some will feel that they have been left in the dark and forgotten. You can reach out to them in gestures that may be beneficial for them and so that they will feel good once you have given them their share.
Make sure that your family is taken care of if you are away. Have someone watch over the children if they are still very young to do things on their own. Once they have grown up, you can then make them live independently as they want to. Or, if they want to stay with you, then that is up to them. Most of the time, they will also have their own families and live with their spouses and children. Then, as a parent, you can play the role of a caring grandparent if they need someone to take care of the children or if you are not preoccupied with anything anyway. Especially, if both parents are both working. Aunts, uncles and cousins could also be go-to people to take care of the children. They can also watch over them and care for them if no one else is available to do the job. Getting to know the family and friends is important to build beautiful memories in communities.
Expect that frustrations may be inevitable. Sometimes you might fail at getting what you want or getting the things that you feel you need to have. But perhaps there is something else that is for you. If it is about work, you might think that things are not always fair, so perhaps, you can tell your employer about it. If things are not fair at work, then maybe there must be something that you have done that has caused this. Be optimistic and see that there are other things more than work that could be fulfilling, and those could be your healthy and happy family, treasures or the riches that you may already have.
Becoming homeless can lead you to places that you may eventually build a home for yourself. You might be able to stumble on a place where you and your family can temporarily or permanently settle in, belong to a community and a society that you need to survive
Have a wonderful day or night.
