How To Reduce Stress
Stress happens and sometimes it simply is unavoidable. There are some ways that can help reduce stress in your busy day.
- Have time for a brief exercise or stretching. Light physical activities for 10 to 15 minutes can help you get the heart pumping and blood flowing well in your body. Stretching when you wake up in the morning, can help condition your body for the activities of the day. A bit of walking can get the heart pumping blood and help get the leg muscles moving.
- Make sure to have a break time as you work. Breaks help you relax your senses and muscles. They help give your body a chance to rest even just for a few minutes. An hour lunch break is recommended for nourishment and relaxation from heavy or tedious work that you have to do. Breaks can help you relax the senses, catch your breath and relax the mind as well.
- Take a warm bath before and after work. Warm baths help the nerves of the body relax. Warm showers or baths help the blood circulate well in your body and relax the senses.
- Eat nutritious food. Vegetables, carbohydrate-rich food, some meat and fruits in your diet can help you keep going. It can help you have a healthy body that is strong enough to withstand infectious diseases and other kinds of diseases. Being healthy is necessary to do a heavy or difficult job that you have to do. Therefore, it is necessary to have a healthy body to keep doing the things that you love to do and keep making beautiful memories with the people you love.
- Have time for rest and relaxation. Rest and relaxation are necessary to keep your mind sane and to keep a family life. Having time for relaxation is necessary for trying to regain energy used up and to recuperate from hard or difficult work. It is important to regain your energy for future activities that you intend to do. Rest is important as work. Having time for family is also important to keep you going because our loved ones are the people whom we can run for help when we need it.
- Sleep is essential in trying to reduce stress. Lay on your bed and try not to think of anything. Say prayers quietly if you want until you fall asleep. If you are suffering from insomnia, there are anti-insomnia drugs available but they have side effects that you may not like. If you do not want to take the pills, simply drink about 100 ml of milk with 100 ml of hot water to help you fall asleep.
- Get a gentle massage. A gentle massage can help you relax the muscles if done properly. You can ask the help of your partner to do the massage for hard to reach parts. There are some spas which offer massages that can last for an hour or more but you can do it yourself if you want. Some use various scents that may be soothing and pleasing to the senses. To relieve pains some use oils with eucalyptus extracts and turmeric for painful muscles. You can first try getting a message in a local spa then later you and your partner can emulate what the therapist did to you if you want to do it yourself.
- Listen to relaxing music. For some people, relaxing light tones of an acoustic guitar, electronic piano, lyre and other instruments that you like listening to can help relax the senses as well. For some, this could be relaxing and enjoyable.
- Drink about 200 ml to 300 ml warm water before bedtime (you can skip this if you have drunk warm milk) or when you wake up. Drinking warm water will help eliminate the toxins that you have in your body that you have consumed the whole day. This includes caffeine and excess sugar and other toxins that you have consumed.
- Meditate, pray or sing, if you feel that this is relaxing for you. Let go of all the tired feeling, stress and anger, sadness, loneliness and other emotions that you may be feeling. Relax the senses and breath in fresh air and breath out from a quiet area in your space and realign your body with your mind and spirit. Talk to yourself and say the prayers either quietly or through a song that you feel will help relieve the tension or confusion in your mind.
Stress is always present on a busy day, but you can reduce it when you do the suggestions that were discussed. Reduce the stress that you feel and relax.
